Designing The Perfect Gym At Home

As the pandemic continues, working out at home is the safest option. Here are some ideas on how to make a personal gym that you’ll want to go to.

Each year brings about change. Often, people start the new year by making resolutions. These resolutions are generally centred around personal health and wellbeing. The best way is through exercise with the payoff being higher self-esteem, more energy and a clearer mind. Exercise is one sure way to rid your body of toxins through perspiration.

Creating your gym isn’t the only way to exercise. If you are working from home and looking after kids or the weather outside is not favourable then a home gym is an added option. Depending on your budget and the availability of space you can set up a workout area that is not that expensive.

Home Gym Equipment

Creating your own home gym doesn’t have to be an expensive hobby. But first, determine what your goal is before you embark on your exercise regime. Is it to turn fat into muscle, cardiovascular, a combination of building strength and suppleness or do you have other goals? Whichever it is make a list and then research what is the best equipment to reach your goals.

Once you have your plan you can purchase secondhand equipment from websites like eBay and Gumtree. Here you can find inexpensive equipment. However, it is best to have the seller close by. Gumtree is an excellent avenue for cheap gym products.

The Garage Gym

Probably the most favoured of all rooms in your home to create a workout area is the garage. Garages obviously have a large door that can offer ventilation on hot days and a side door entrance that is accessible via the house or outside. There is usually powerpoint access for electricity and good lighting.

It depends on the size of your garage as to how much equipment you want to fill it with. But if your budget and goals do not require a lot of space then an all-in-one gym will suit you fine. If you have a little money over you could invest in a small fridge and also a TV or computer monitor. A TV can be a great distraction whilst you work out or perhaps you can exercise along with your favourite workout programmes.

The Small Space Gym

On the market, there are some very clever compact gym designs. One such product is the NOHrD SlimBeam. These literally take up about 1 square metre of space and stand at 215cm and offer you a whole range of exercise options. The designs are quite sleek and they will fit into any corner of your home without looking out of place. However, they come with quite a high price tag of over $2000.

Cardio Machine

If the simple goal is to increase your cardio fitness then there are about 5 preferred systems in the marketplace. Any of these will increase your cardio.

  • Treadmill
  • Rowing machine
  • Indoor cycling
  • Stair climber
  • Elliptical

Whatever path you take to fitness we hope you realise and build on your goals.
